Showing “Demonstrated Experience” on your resume means documenting, in the EXPERIENCE section of your resume, for every position: (1) When a skill was used (2) Where a skill was used (3) How long the skill was used for (4) How the skill was used (5) Your interaction with others while using the skill (6) The subject matter of the project where the skill was used.
Including this kind of detailed information on your resume can be a deciding factor for interviewers. Recruiters look for explanations about the environment and context in which skills were applied. This allows them to assess whether a candidate's experience will be valuable for the target position.
"Missing information on a resume is indistinguishable from lack of experience".
"The position you are most likely to get is the one for which your experience provides the most value"
If information is omitted on a resume, the message to the reader might be: (1) The candidate doesn’t have the skill, (2) The skill is not important, or the candidate has no interest in it, (3) The candidate was too lazy to include the skill on the resume, or (4) Someone advised a candidate to shorten their resume. None of these reasons work in your favor. Recruiters are unlikely to identify you among many other questionable submissions.
Presenting your value clearly opens up many opportunities.
